Chris Stassinopolous
Everybody in this Community knows Chris. He is from Athens Greece and plays some of the "spaciest jazz music" on this .....or any other planet.
The way he plays sometimes ...... I think he might be from another planet.
He is a Berklee Grad.... plays Greece in the Winter .....and tours Europe with his totally "Spatial" band of other Berklee Grads in the Spring and Summer.
He is a networker extraordinaire... which would place him tops in my books without the pedigree.
He even got the club owner at the Half Note Cafe ( where Chris is featured performer all winter) in Athens so excited about y'all that he'll fly you over for an all expense paid weeks vacation to Greece if you want to "lay back" and jam with Chris in his club for the week....if he and the club owner like your music.
He also got this Community written up in Greeces Equivalent to "People Magazine"
You all know him cause he listens to your music---- downloads what he likes and sends you emails.
Chris does not speak English as his first language....... but he is one of the most energetic and talented individuals I have ever met.
Sometimes when Chis E-mails you and me .... he maybe
hard to understand.. because he is communicating and trying to express
where "your music took him"
from his native tongue and interpret it into a
language he uses rarely.
But when he contacts you it is because your music moved him.
Music.... the kind you and I play,,,,, is a Universal Language.
And what comes out of the player is what is important.....
Chris sent me a copy of his latest CD. It is a fabulous Smooth Jazz work totally unlike the other tunes he has placed on MP3 called Double Duo.
So if you are a fan of Chris already, please don't
cry out that he is selling out.
He is just revealing another side of himself, just
another arrow in his "arsenal of talent."
From a commercial standpoint---- my 8 and 11 year old girls---- have confiscated the Double Duo CD.
They have placed Chris, right below 98 degrees , Christina Aguilera, Penny Framstad , and Samah, as their most favorite artist of the month..... and they won't give it back to me.
I still believe, that Jazz Artists, belong in the Pop Charts... to a limited degree..... only the besr and most commercial will make it to the top.
It has been a while but look at Mangione and Benson.....
The Pendulum swings both ways....
If my daughters are any indicator (and by the way they are not so fanatical about Chris's earlier stuff...... even though Dad digs it) the pendulum might be ripe for some of the community to really showcase their wares on MP3 and take off.
Chris asked me to review his CD and just to let him know
what I (not you ) thought of it ........ well Chris I don't
need to.......... My daughters already did ...and even though Dad
might not share their exuberance fror Aguilara and 98 degrees....
he sure agrees with their fine choice of supporting the independent
artists.... and making up their own minds about the music they enjoy.
And they sure enjoy yours.
Double Duo is not available through MP 3.
Contractually, Chris can't put it on.
I was able to convince Chris's management to do 2 things :

I have no interest financially in making this go or not.
Thje only reason I'm asking you to download The MP3 and buy this CD is because this "cat" is busting his a#$ off trying to promote yours.... all over the world
If you owe somebody...... It's him
And the only language you share is music.
Not only that , if there is one Jazz CD you need to own in your collection .....it's this one........just ask my daughters.
